Low-Lying Fog

A thick blanket of fog that stays ankle deep instead of filling the room, so your first dance photos look like they were shot on a cloud and nobody's smoke alarm goes off.

Low-Lying Fog at an event

What you get

  • Chilled, water-based fog that hugs the floor and clears within a few minutes
  • Covers a standard dance floor with a dense, even layer
  • Stays low, well below ceiling-mounted detectors, unlike hazers and standard foggers
  • Odorless and residue free, with no slick floor afterward
  • Pairs beautifully with uplighting, and with cold sparks in the same song
  • Refills included so the effect can be repeated later in the night

Popular for

  • First dance
  • Father-daughter dance
  • Quinceanera surprise dance
  • Photo sessions
  • Stage entrances

Setup, teardown, an on-site operator and a certificate of insurance for your venue are included every time.

Common questions

Are cold sparks actually safe indoors?

Yes. Cold spark machines use a granular alloy that ignites at a far lower temperature than traditional pyrotechnics. There is no open flame, no fuel and no smoke, and the sparks cool as they fall. That is why most venues approve them where real pyro is not allowed. We still walk the room with you, keep the required clearance from guests and drapery, and provide a certificate of insurance for your venue.

Will the effects set off the fire alarm?

Cold sparks produce no smoke, so they do not trigger smoke detectors. Our low-lying fog is chilled and water based and stays near the floor, well below ceiling-mounted sensors. We have run both in hotels, ballrooms and churches without an issue, and we always confirm the plan with your venue coordinator first.

Does my venue need to approve this?

Almost always, and we handle it. Send us the venue name when you book and we will forward our certificate of insurance and effect specifications straight to their events team, usually the same day.

How much space do you need?

Each spark machine needs roughly a two-foot square of floor and a standard outlet nearby. Ceiling height decides how high we run the sparks, and we can dial the effect down for lower ceilings. The 360 photo booth needs about a 10 by 10 foot area.
